Why parents assign household chores to their children

Big households are really lively and full of a lot of noise and activity. These can be houses where families are not only the nuclear family but also the extended family. Other houses or homes are considered big on the account of they are foster homes or even those couples that have a lot of children. There are a lot of chores in such houses and in most cases they are delegated to the children who do not like it at all but they have to do it because their parents say so. They tend to think that their parents are out to treat them like maids but the thing is that they want them to be responsible adults. There are those who are assigned to wash the carpets, the younger ones told to load the dish washer, and there are those who are supposed to make sure that the clothes are washed too. They do not do it perfectly, and the parents have to supervise but what matters is that at the end of the day, they obeyed and did what they are told to do.
